The Villa/Gallery located in Karuizawa, Japan is a small polygon structure hidden within the forest. Used as a space to serve multiple functions, the unique structure is kept minimal in its design.

The parti model focuses on the idea that the Villa/Gallery is a scale-less point in the forest. Its polygon shape makes it appear like an alien object placed within the surrounding landscape.

The design was informed by the contrast of the site area to building, emphasizing the ruggedness of the landscape versus the sharp geometry of the building. The model also highlights how the structure carves itself into the existing  landscape.
